Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia on Monday paid a surprise visit to the headquarters of Benue Links Nigeria Limited in Makurdi, where he reiterated his administration’s resolve to transform the state through improved infrastructure and service delivery.
The visit came shortly after the governor returned from Abuja, where he joined other state governors for a Sallah homage to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and attended a meeting of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
At the Benue Links headquarters, Governor Alia was warmly received by the General Manager, Comrade Alexander Aondodhemba Fananafa, along with staff members and supporters who had gathered to welcome him.
In a brief address, the governor expressed appreciation for the warm reception, noting that such grassroots support continues to fuel his administration’s efforts. He also conveyed goodwill messages from President Tinubu, following their recent engagement in Abuja.
Governor Alia used the opportunity to urge young people across the state to embrace agriculture, describing it as a critical driver of economic growth and job creation. He assured that his government is ready to increase investment in the agricultural sector to boost productivity and improve livelihoods for residents.
The unscheduled visit drew significant attention from residents and staff, highlighting the governor’s hands-on engagement with state-owned institutions. Benue Links, as the state’s primary transport company, plays a vital role in intercity and intra-state mobility, and the governor’s appearance underscored his administration’s focus on revitalising key public enterprises.
The visit is being viewed as a clear signal of the governor’s continued commitment to strengthening governance structures and delivering tangible development across all sectors in Benue State.
