Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, today conducted an on-site inspection of several critical ongoing infrastructure projects, demonstrating his administration’s hands-on approach to development. The Governor visited sites including the upgrade and modernization of the Benue Links Park, the reconstruction of the Gboko-Makurdi Road and its drainage systems, as well as the construction of the Wurukum Flyover in Makurdi.
The inspection tour was designed to ensure strict adherence to quality standards, timely project delivery, and full alignment with the state’s broader development goals. Accompanied by top government officials and project contractors, Governor Alia engaged directly with workers and engineers on the ground, reviewing progress and addressing challenges in real time.
Speaking during the visit, the Governor reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering durable, world-class infrastructure that meets the immediate needs of the people while serving as a lasting legacy for future generations. “We are not just building roads and facilities; we are laying the foundation for economic growth, improved transportation, and enhanced quality of life across Benue,” he stated.
The Gboko-Makurdi Road reconstruction, a vital artery connecting two major commercial hubs, has long been a priority due to its poor state and frequent flooding caused by inadequate drainage. The ongoing upgrades aim to eliminate these bottlenecks, improve safety, and boost trade between the regions.
Similarly, the Wurukum Flyover project in Makurdi is expected to ease chronic traffic congestion in the state capital, particularly around the busy Wurukum roundabout, while the modernization of Benue Links Park seeks to transform it into a efficient, passenger-friendly transport hub.
