The Dream Event Center in Makurdi turned into a celebration of style, creativity, and Benue pride on Tuesday night as the 5th edition of Men Fashion Week Benue (MFWB) delivered one of its most electrifying shows yet.
Governor Hyacinth Alia, looking sharp in traditional Tiv attire, stole the spotlight when he joined models on the runway, sending the crowd into a frenzy and proving once again that the priest-turned-governor knows how to work a catwalk when the moment calls for it.
From Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt to homegrown talents, designers brought fire: bold prints, sleek tailoring, cultural fusion pieces, and statement accessories that had phones flashing non-stop. The energy was electric, the applause thunderous, and for one night Makurdi felt like the fashion capital of the Middle Belt.
Since its launch in 2020, MFWB has quietly grown into a major platform showcasing male fashion and grooming across the region. What started as a small passion project has become a trusted launchpad for both emerging designers and established names looking to test new collections in front of a passionate, style-conscious crowd.
Founder and Creative Director Mshelia Jamal Jamila kept his speech short and sweet: “I prefer to let the runway do the talking.” And talk it did, loud, proud, and unapologetically Benue.
With Governor Alia’s presence sending a clear message that creativity and youth enterprise have a friend in government house, this year’s edition felt bigger than fashion. It felt like a statement: Benue can design, Benue can dazzle, and Benue belongs on any national style map.
