Benue State Deputy Governor, Hon. Sam Ode, has conducted an on-the-spot inspection of ongoing road construction works in Otukpo, assuring affected residents and property owners of prompt and fair compensation for any disruptions caused by the project.
The Deputy Governor visited several sections of the roads under rehabilitation in Otukpo town, where he interacted directly with community leaders, traders, motorists, and residents impacted by the works. Accompanied by technical officials from the relevant ministries and the contractor handling the project, Hon. Ode assessed progress, examined the scope of work, and listened to concerns raised by locals about access, dust, business disruptions, and properties affected by the road expansion and realignment.
Speaking during the inspection, the Deputy Governor emphasised the state government’s commitment to infrastructure development while prioritising the welfare of citizens. He assured that all genuine claims for compensation — whether for demolished structures, farmlands, or business premises affected by the road project — would be processed transparently and expeditiously in line with established guidelines.
Hon. Ode explained that the ongoing road upgrades are part of the administration’s broader agenda to improve connectivity, ease transportation challenges, boost economic activities, and enhance the overall livability of urban centres in Benue State. He noted that while construction may cause temporary inconveniences, the long-term benefits of better roads — including reduced travel time, improved safety, and increased commercial opportunities — would far outweigh the short-term challenges.
Residents and community stakeholders who engaged with the Deputy Governor during the visit expressed appreciation for his personal attention to their concerns and welcomed the assurance on compensation.
