The Chief Medical Director of Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi, Dr. Steven Terungwa Hwande, has called on his supporters to focus their energy and resources on ensuring the successful re-election of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia in 2027.
Dr. Hwande gave the charge on Friday, March 20, 2026, while addressing his supporters at his Makurdi residence. He emphasized the need for collective effort and unity to secure victory for the governor, describing it as a shared responsibility among those who have benefited from the administration’s policies.
The BSUTH helmsman reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the responsibilities assigned to him by Governor Alia at the teaching hospital. He also expressed readiness to accept any new challenges or roles the governor may deem him worthy of in the future.
As the Point Man for Guma Local Government Area in the governor’s political structure, Dr. Hwande urged his followers to pray fervently for the governor’s success, stressing that “success comes from God.” He further extended warm wishes to the Muslim community in Benue and across Nigeria, praying for a peaceful and blessed Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The statement has been interpreted in political circles as a strong signal of loyalty and alignment with Governor Alia’s second-term ambition, coming from a respected medical administrator and key grassroots mobilizer in Guma.
