Benue’s Humanitarian Crisis Ignored Due to Blacklisting, Says BICD

The Bureau for International Cooperation and Development (BICD) has revealed that Benue State’s tragic humanitarian crises have been overlooked due to the state being blacklisted by the international community. The disclosure was made by Dr. Leo-Angelo Viashima, Director General of BICD, during a recent interview.

Dr. Viashima explained that the lack of attention stemmed from the state’s blacklisting, but expressed optimism with the coming of Governor Hyacinth Alia and the establishment of BICD. He highlighted that these developments are helping to rebuild trust with the international community, enabling collaboration with 38 NGOs.

The statement comes as a call for renewed focus on Benue’s ongoing humanitarian challenges, with hopes that the new leadership and BICD’s efforts will bring much-needed support and relief to the region.
