The Member representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dickson Tarkighir (OON), has commended Nigerian adventurer and cyclist Emmanuel Myam, popularly known as Emmiwuks, for his extraordinary resilience and determination, while announcing a personal donation of $1,000 in support of the young man’s ambitious journey.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, Tarkighir reflected on the initial skepticism that greeted Emmiwuks’ announcement of his solo bicycle ride from Nigeria to the United States, with many citing insurmountable challenges such as visa hurdles, security risks, and the harsh conditions along the route.

Despite the widespread doubts, Tarkighir noted that Emmiwuks pressed forward, embodying a rare spirit of perseverance that deserves recognition and encouragement. “Today, it is that spirit we must honour and uphold as a global example that nothing is impossible when the heart is committed,” the lawmaker stated.

He highlighted how he has consistently supported youth initiatives in education, skills acquisition, and family welfare, adding that Emmiwuks’ story stands out as a powerful testament to triumph over fear. “We may not all ride a bicycle to the USA, but if we approach our goals with the same resilience Emmiwuks has shown, we shall conquer,” he emphasized.

Tarkighir announced an initial personal contribution of $1,000, symbolically describing it as “a cup of coffee” for one of Nigeria’s own, and called on others to rally behind the cyclist. “Go, Real-Emmiwuks. An entire continent stands behind you. You make us all proud,” he concluded.
