Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has announced significant progress on the Benue State High-Level Overpass/Underpass project, a major infrastructure initiative located at the heart of Makurdi, the state capital.
In a post shared today, the governor revealed that the project has reached the stage of final finishing touches and will soon be fully ready for public use. He expressed pleasure at the encouraging advancement, noting that completion is now imminent.
When fully operational, the overpass/underpass is expected to bring substantial relief to commuters by significantly reducing traffic congestion, improving road safety, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the capital city, and strengthening overall urban mobility across Benue State.
Governor Alia emphasized that the project goes beyond being a conventional road intervention. It represents a strategic, long-term investment in the orderly growth, modernization, and sustained development of Makurdi as a modern capital city.
“Our administration remains firmly committed to building practical infrastructure that directly improves the daily lives of our people,” the governor stated. “Together, we are building the Benue of our dreams.”
The update has been welcomed by residents and stakeholders who have long awaited the resolution of chronic traffic bottlenecks in the city center. The project forms part of the Ali administration’s broader push to deliver impactful infrastructure developments under its #BenueIsRising, #PeopleFirst, and #InfrastructureDevelopment agenda.
Upon completion, the facility is anticipated to serve as a landmark symbol of progress, easing movement for thousands of daily users and contributing to the transformation of Makurdi into a more functional and livable urban center.
