The race for the Benue North West senatorial seat in 2027 has officially ignited, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is coming out swinging.
Former House of Representatives member and ADC chieftain, Hon. Iveren Ukula Iveren, has openly declared war on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zone B, vowing that the days of APC dominance in the district are numbered.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja at a sensitization programme on the party’s core values, Ukula pulled no punches: the current APC leadership in the zone has abandoned governance for politics, leaving the people to drown in poverty while they chase personal ambition.
“The people of Benue North West are tired of leaders who remember their constituencies only when elections are near,” she said. “ADC is offering a credible, people-centred alternative, and by 2027 the APC will be unseated in Zone B.”
Ukula, who represented Kwande/Ushongo federal constituency in the past, accused the APC of turning the senatorial district into a theatre of endless promises and zero delivery. She argued that while communities battle hunger, insecurity, and collapsed infrastructure, those in power are more interested in 2027 succession plots than fixing boreholes or schools.
Her declaration has already sent ripples across the political landscape in Benue, where the APC has held the Senate seat since 2019. Political observers say the ADC, long seen as a fringe party in the state, is now deliberately positioning itself as the protest vote against both the APC and the PDP in the zone.
With two years still to go, the battle for Benue North West just got hotter, and Hon. Ukula Iveren has fired the first clear shot.
The people will decide in 2027 whether the red card finally comes out for the APC in Zone B.
