TSB Boss, Hon. Bem Tseen Launches New School Session with Call for Excellence

The Acting Executive Secretary of the Benue State Teaching Service Board (TSB), Hon. Bem Tseen, kicked off the new school session with a supervisory visit to several schools. Visiting Government Model School, Government College, Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School, and Government Girls’ College, all in Makurdi, Tseen commended teachers for their massive turnout and emphasized their critical role in shaping students’ futures.

Tseen encouraged teachers to adopt a positive attitude and work collaboratively to realize Governor Hyacinth Alia’s vision of uplifting education in the state. He stressed the importance of commitment and dedication in molding students into useful members of society. The TSB boss also appreciated students present and urged absent ones to resume without delay to avoid missing key subjects, while appealing to parents to ensure timely resumption.

During the visit, principals including Dr. Robert Apir (Government Model School), Mrs. Aumbur Agena (Government College), Rev. Fr. James Utav (Mount Saint Gabriel’s), Mr. Yende (Gifted and Talented), and Mrs. Dorothy Ganyam (Government Girls’ College) expressed gratitude for Tseen’s visit and fatherly concern, noting it would motivate staff. However, they highlighted challenges due to a shortage of teachers and appealed for more staff to enhance effective teaching and learning.

The schools reported the following numbers: Government Model School (16 students, 57 staff), Government College (0 students, 71 staff), and Government Girls’ College (44 students, 36 staff). This initiative underscores a renewed focus on educational improvement in Benue State.
