According to her testimony, the attackers struck around 5:40 am, killing nine innocent people and injuring eight others. Happiness lost two of her cousins in the attack. Her aunt was shot and is currently fighting for her life in the hospital, while two of her aunt’s children were killed in her presence. Happiness herself was shot but survived.
She described the incident as deeply traumatic, lamenting the lack of protection, intervention, and justice. “The most heartbreaking part is that those responsible walked away freely. There has been no protection, no intervention and no justice,” she stated, noting the silence from the government and the inaction of security agencies.
Happiness appealed to the public to keep her family, her village, and all affected persons in their prayers, while calling for safety, justice, and lasting peace in the region. Her story has resonated widely on social media, drawing sympathy and renewed calls for decisive action to end the cycle of violence in Benue State.
