Benue State Government Provides Relief Materials to Victims Displaced by Otukpo Nobi and Akpachi-Ugboju Attacks

The Benue State Government, through the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has delivered relief materials to persons displaced by the recent attacks on Otukpo Nobi and Akpachi-Ugboju in Otukpo Local Government Area.

The intervention was carried out on the directive of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia to provide rapid assistance to affected families. The Executive Secretary of Benue SEMA, Sir James Aondoakaa Iorpuu PhD, led the distribution of the materials on Monday, July 13, 2026.

The SEMA boss, accompanied by a delegation from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), joined the state government team on a sympathy visit to the palace of the Paramount Ruler of the Idoma Kingdom, Och’Idoma, His Royal Majesty Agaba-Idu Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John.

The delegation, led by Deputy Governor Barr. Dr. Sam Odeh, conveyed the Governor’s condolence message and assured residents of the government’s commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice and restoring normalcy. Officials also conducted an on-the-spot assessment of damages caused by the attacks.

The relief effort underscores the state government’s commitment to supporting displaced families in the aftermath of the violence.
